2008 Toy Drive is Underway! 11/10/2008 - 12/20/2008

For the kids we serve the holidays are an exciting but challenging time. Some may be separated from their parents, others from their siblings. At least 90% come from families living below the federal poverty level. All have experienced significant trauma that taints the warm holiday season.
You can bring joy to our kids this holiday season!
The Support Center for Child Advocates is again collecting and delivering toys to our youngsters.
Please help us!
Here’s how you can get involved:
Buy gifts for our children (ages birth to 18)! Please contact Sandra Lavini to arrange your gift drop off. Sandra is available at the following email addresses, ToyDrive@advokid.org & smlavini@verizon.net, or by phone, 267.940.1603. Please contact Sandra first so that someone is available to receive your gifts!! All donations should be dropped off at 1880 JFK Boulevard, 17th Floor!
*We especially need gifts for teenagers. Gift cards are an easy way to give to this age group, and our teens just love them. (Ideas: CVS, Target, Wal-Mart, AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas, Blockbuster, Best Buy, Circuit City, Foot Locker, Bath & Body Works, Sports Authority, Champs, McDonalds, Cold Stone, Nail Salons, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Express, H&M, Kohl’s, FYE, Pacific Sun, Game Stop, Electronic Boutique, Claire’s, Five Below, etc.).
Coordinate a mini-Toy Drive at work, among friends and family members, at your child’s school, or at your church or synagogue! We will send you the names and ages of our children on adhesive labels that can be distributed to your donors. When you’re done, you can deliver the toys to us or we’ll make arrangements to pick them up.
Adopt a family with special needs! We’ll give you a list of the family’s needs so that you and your friends, family members, and co-workers can share in the joy of making a family’s holiday extra-special.
Pick up toys for us at various Center City and suburban locations! As our coordinators complete their collection efforts, we’ll need drivers who can pick up toys for us and deliver them to the Support Center for Child Advocates or 1880 JFK Blvd.
Help us sort and bag toys in preparation for delivery! We’ll need a lot of help with this one in the two weeks that precede our delivery date. Call for details!
Join us on Saturday, December 20th, to deliver toys to our kids. We need many drivers for this event. We supply detailed directions to each household. Bring other drivers from your workplace or neighborhood to 1900 Cherry Street on Dec. 20th. It’s a heartwarming activity and a lot of fun!
